About Me

Will Savage is a percussionist from Bradford currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he is in his second year of a four-year BMus degree specialising in orchestral percussion and timpani, alongside drum kit, jazz, and Latin percussion. He began his musical training locally before joining Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester, where he developed as an orchestral and ensemble percussionist performing across symphony orchestra, jazz, and brass repertoire, and building a strong foundation in both orchestral and contemporary styles.

At the RNCM, he studies within a percussion department led by Simone Rebello and a wider faculty of specialist percussion tutors, receiving training across orchestral, solo, and contemporary percussion disciplines. His work in this environment has reinforced a strong focus on ensemble awareness, rhythmic precision, and adaptability across a wide range of performance settings.

Alongside his studies, Will has developed an active interest in musical direction and musical theatre. He has worked as Musical Director on productions including Footloose with Onstage Musical Theatre Society (Manchester Metropolitan University) and Next to Normal with UMMTS (University of Manchester), leading rehearsals and supporting vocal and ensemble performance in full production settings. He also works regularly as a keyboard and pit musician in musical theatre workshop and sitz-style environments, developing strong sight-reading skills and rehearsal efficiency in fast-paced collaborative contexts.

He is additionally active in live sound and production work, currently working as an AV Technician at Co-op Live in Manchester, supporting large-scale live events alongside experience in orchestral and ensemble recording, live reinforcement, and digital audio workflows including multi-microphone recording and live mixing systems.

Across performance, musical direction, and production, his work is centred on collaborative music-making, rehearsal process, and the practical integration of musicianship within live performance environments.
